Are You Ready to Resolve Your Family Challenges in 2010?

Orion, Nichola, Sebastian, Doug and I enjoyed our family tradition of bringing in the New Year with a quiet dinner at our favorite Indian restaurant on New Year’s Eve followed by a fun family walk the next morning at Hidden Villa to see the farm animals, and especially the tractors for Sebastian.DSCN0038

We all so enjoy our time together, whether it’s a quiet evening at home or an international adventure. It doesn’t get old, boring or stressful. Our time together is satisfying and fulfilling for all of us, as we are all aligned with making things work for everyone.

One of the secrets to our continuous good times together is that we work through any difficult or challenging times as they come up. Because of our shared commitment to honesty and trust with one another, we don’t leave difficulties unresolved or shove them under the rug to re-surface another day.

This means we can truly enjoy the moment and treasure the time we have together. Such a joy! I am so grateful.

To begin the New Year, I am flying to Miami for a retreat with my coach and then on to Jamaica for a week of relaxing on the beach, hiking the Blue Mountains, and soaking up the laid back, reggae culture and music. Maybe I’ll find a fun place to go dancing.

This will be the first time I’ve been to Jamaica, and I’m traveling solo, which I haven’t done in a while. I’m looking forward to the adventure.

Let Your Intuition Guide You

Last week I attended Isabel Parlett’s “Put the Mojo
in Your Message” event in Phoenix. Isabel is both my mentor and my client. I
had so much fun moving and listening to tribal drumming to access the deepest message
I want to share with the world. I’m delighted with what I discov
PB130033ered.

While there I also had the opportunity to visit Old
Town Scottsdale where they have an amazing horse fountain. You know my love of
horses. I couldn’t resist taking some photos.

One of the big lessons I’ve learned in my life is to
trust those urgings within me to do something that feels right for me. This is
true whether it’s taking photos of a horse fountain, attending a training or
creating a program to empower parents.

Right now, in addition to my upcoming Parents
Keep Your Cool Intensive
, I’m excited
about my first ever home study program, which will be available in just a few
weeks. My assistant Lisa an
d I are getting everything ready for you as quickly
as we can. I’m so looking forward to sharing this transformational program with
you soon!

If there is one mistake I see parents make over
and over
, it’s not realizing how important you are to your child and her development. Read my tip below to
deepen your awareness of this important truth.

A Touching Ritual

I drive through the crowds of people and parked cars. People drive purposefully, looking for a space to park. Masses of people walking in quiet family clusters toward the viewing spots for fireworks. Children occasionally skipping or talking excitedly.

Everywhere a palpable feeling of connection within the families. A silent, peaceful, almost sacred connection between all people gathered and gathering.

An unspoken respect, trust and regard permeate the air. Parents bringing their children to this once a year ritual, when Americans assemble across the land.

To honor their country. To celebrate their family and the abundance of life. To share with their children the magic of beautiful colors exploding overhead.

To be the parent they know their child needs them to be.

A Sweet Love Unspoken

I call my 20-month-old grandson Sebastian
from Las Vegas. I haven’t seen him for 4 days, and I long for a grandma
connection. Shortly after Grandpa Doug, who is taking care of Sebastian,
answeres the phone, I hear Sebastian, clearly expressing his desire to talk
with his grandma.

What follows is magical. Sebastian is
learning to talk so he has a small vocabulary for having a conversation. However,
as soon as he is on the phone, I feel wrapped in love, an eager,
reaching-out-to-connect desire that warms my heart. I tell him, “Hi, Sebastian!
I love you so much!”

After a short silence on his end, I hear,
“Shoe!” one of his favorite words. I ask him if he has his shoes. I tell him I am
wearing mine.

Then he clearly says, “Key!” his most
loved word in the English language. I hear from Grandpa that they are trying to
find his keys. They had disappeared yet again.

Sebastian laughs, reaching out to
connect.

“Shoe!”

Our conversation is short on words and
abundant in joy and love for one another. My heart fills to over-flowing. Tears
fill my eyes. Sweetness! I walk back into the meeting room, knowing in a
profound, unspoken way that I am loved more than words can possibly express. Life is
beautiful!
